About

Bêne Otto is a HPCSA and HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist, with a focus on adult mental health, grief and bereavement, and couples therapy. With a deeply compassionate and culturally sensitive approach, Bêne creates a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients. Her integrative therapeutic style is grounded in person-centred principles and enriched by psychodynamic and attachment theories, allowing her to provide tailored support to meet each client’s unique needs.

In couples therapy, Bêne uses Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to foster secure emotional bonds, enhance relationship satisfaction, and cultivate intimacy and trust. Her work is also informed by a strong academic foundation, as she nears the completion of her PhD in Psychology, with a focus on disenfranchised grief and the societal narratives that shape bereavement experiences.

Currently practicing in South Africa (online and in person) and the UK (online), Bêne is committed to empowering her clients to navigate life’s challenges with authenticity, understanding and self-compassion. 

Passionate about professional development, Bêne is expanding her skills in EMDR, ACT and ADHD assessments. Bêne has a diverse background that spans private practice, academic teaching, and research, bringing an evidence-based perspective to her work.
